Maria Menounos

Maria realized she was suffering from medical issues of her own while she cared for her mother, who had stage 4 brain tumors. In February 2014 Menounos started experiencing troubling symptoms. Menounos tells PEOPLE they've noticed lightheadedness and headaches since February 2014. "My speech became slurred. It was also difficult for me to comprehending the Teleprompter." An MRI found Menounos to have a huge-sized meningioma brain tumour which had grown up to the size as a golf ball. The tumour was pressing her facial nerves. Menounos scheduled an appointment with her mother's doctor, the renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Keith L. Black The surgery was scheduled for June 8-her 39th birthday. He said that it was 98 percent safe. The only thing is that we will not be able to know until the time they reach. The complex operation took about seven hours. Dr. Black was capable of getting rid of 99.9 percent of the benign tumor. "He told me there's between six and seven percent probability that it'll come back," she says. This is my most reliable choice. Now back at home after an eight-day stay in the hospital, Menounos is recuperating and spending moments with mother Litsa, whose latest MRI indicates that her cancer remains stable.
